SHREWSBURY, Mass. – The Shrewsbury High School Boy's Basketball team suffered another loss on their season Tuesday, falling 65-61 to Leominster, but Head Coach Adrian Machado said this season it about rebuilding, not wins.

"Wins are great, but we know it's a building process this year," Machado said.

With only three seniors on the team this year, Machado said he has been focusing on getting the younger guys into their system.

"I don't think it's a lack of talent, it's a lack of experience," Machado said. "And you can't teach experience, you just need to go out and get it."

Machado admitted that he isn't the most patient coach in the world, but he said he thinks his guys are starting to get it.

"This year we've been preaching one thing: that everyone in the locker room needs to be a competitor," Machado said.

While the team may be struggling to get wins, Machado said three of his players have been strong contributors throughout the season.

Freshman Mike West has had a breakout season, according to Machado. Junior Captain Mike Coggshall and Junior Chris Akerson have also been playing well this season according to the coach.

The loss on Tuesday came after the team struggling to try and get the upper hand on the Blue Devils throughout the game.

"The guys battled, but they just didn't play hard enough in the first half," Machado said. "They came out strong in the second, though."

The Colonials narrowed Leominster's lead to only four early in the fourth quarter. The boys battled as they tried to prolong the game and make it a one possession game with two minutes left in the game, but Leominster's free throws continued to place them in the lead.

"The guys need to believe in each other and, once they do that, the wins will happen," Machado said.
