Police Log: A&B on Shrewsbury Officer Alleged

SHREWSBURY, Mass. - A Blackstone man was charged with three counts of assault and battery on a police officer early Sunday morning as he allegedly attempted to flee after a traffic stop on Route 20.

Joseph Bellanti, 32, of 31 Richmond St., Blackstone, was charged with three counts of assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, marked lanes violations, operating a motor vehicle after a license suspension, operating under the influence of alcohol, failure to stop for police, and two counts of possession of a class E substance (prescription narcotics).

Bellanti was pulled over at 12:52 a.m. Sunday near 845 Hartford Turnpike. He ran from his vehicle and was caust after a brief pursuit.
