SHREWSBURY, Mass. – The Shrewsbury Historical Society will be presenting "A Visit with Louisa May Alcott" with speaker Jan Turnquist on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m.
The living history experience with Turnquist, executive director for Orchard House, the Alcott Family Home in Concord, will include her portraying Alcott, the author of Little Women.
She will bring attendees behind the scenes of her life, family friendships with Thoreau and Emerson, her unconventional upbringing in poverty, and the family love that inspired her to write an American classic.
Turnquist has portrayed Miss Alcott on PBS and BBC productions. Orchard House is one of the oldest, most authentically preserved historic house museums in America.
The event will be held at the Shrewsbury Historical Society building at 1830 Brick Schoolhouse on Church Road. It is free and open to the public. For more information, call Erik at 1-774-230-5826.
